Delgatie Castle is one of the most ancient and historic Scottish castles, set peacefully in its extensive grounds in the magnificent and unspoilt geographic tapestry of Scotland. It is situated three miles from Turriff, Aberdeenshire, and is the site of the first skirmish in the civil war between the Covenanters and the Royalists in May 1639.

Holidays are about getting away to where you can forget the pressures of everyday living, and It’s about unwinding in fresh surroundings. Here in the peace and tranquillity of Delgatie Castle Estate you will have your own country hideaway, with the forest walks on your doorstep.

Holidaymakers are welcome to walk through the Estate and the Delgatie Woods. There is also a large Lake where you can catch trout.

Delgatie Castle has tremendous character and a distinct sense of history. This combined with its picturesque setting makes it an ideal stopping place for visitors wishing to experience Scotland. Whether for a half-day visit and refreshment in the cosy ‘Laird’s Kitchen’ Tearoom or for a lengthier stay, Delgatie is sure to please.

The Castle’s location provides an ideal touring base for visiting some of Scotland ‘s most majestic scenery. Many of the loveliest areas of the Highlands are easily accessible; Speyside, the Cairngorms, Her Majesty, the Queen’s Scottish home – Balmoral; the village of Braemar with its annual highland gathering of world-wide renown, and Aboyne with its more friendly and informal games. The historic site of the grim Battle of Culloden is but an hour’s and a half’s drive away.

Apart from tourist highlights, Delgatie is within easy reach of many quiet local beaches, potteries, antique shops and some of the world’s best known whisky distilleries. There is an excellent golf course locally and others of high standard within easy reach. There are numerous rivers nearby that offer excellent fishing for salmon or trout. Delgatie offers its own tranquil lake where the best of rainbow and brown trout may be caught from dusk till dawn.

The Castle offers accommodation in 3 self-catering cottages around the estate; or for a truly special holiday why not select the Symbister Suite or the Hayfield Suite, both located within Delgatie Castle itself?

All accommodation at Delgatie Castle has been equipped to a high standard. There are fitted carpets and central heating throughout; colour TV, DVD Player, automatic washing machines and coffee making facilities are also built in. Symbister and Hayfield have FreeSAT installed for those cold wintery evenings.

Bed linen, towels, heating, and lighting are included in the cost per week and all beds are made up ready on arrival. Cots, high chairs and stairgates are available on request. We must apologise to dog owners but we do not allow pets in our accommodation with the exception of guide dogs.
